Do you want a family trip but don't know what to choose? Imagine closing your eyes and reopening them, after just 4 or 5 hours, in a land rich in scents, colors, spices, distant atmospheres, experiences from other epochs...

In fact, Morocco offers several advantages for those who want to travel with children.
First of all, it is very conveniently connected to several Italian airports and numerous cities around the world.
My advice is to always check portals such as Skyscanner or Google Flights to see if direct or stopover routes are available that may be convenient from your departure city.
For those leaving from Italy, in just a few hours of flight you are catapulted into a completely different reality, which offers the opportunity to see unique places and learn about cultures, religions and unforgettable gastronomic traditions.
“Seeing our daughter play with the sand of the Sahara desert was a unique emotion that we will always remember and the curiosity with which the Berbers welcomed her surprised us”.
These are the words of a mother from the community of my travel blog Bimbi e Viaggi (www.bimbieviaggi.it) who experienced her first trip to Morocco with her few-month-old baby: whether you travel through the city or in the desert, the local population is very welcoming to everyone and especially to families.
Moroccan cuisine is also pleasing to the palate of children: among the typical dishes we can mention the inevitable couscous with meat and vegetables and the tajine, based on meat or fish, which takes its name from the particular terracotta container in which the dish is cooked.
As for more practical information related to travel, to travel to Morocco you need a passport with a validity that covers at least the entire trip.
The health and hygiene situation in the country is satisfactory and vaccinations are not mandatory. Public hospitals are generally not at the level of European ones, but there are better quality private clinics: it is therefore always advisable to take out health insurance before each trip, to be protected in case of unforeseen events.

Once we land in Morocco, we can start the adventure! One of the best ways to get around can be to rent a car with a private driver: the cars, upon request, are equipped with child seats and the presence of a local guide is always invaluable for getting to know the places you are passing through up close.
Relying on professional and competent tour operators allows you to travel in complete safety but also to open the doors of the local community, living genuine experiences far from mass tourism. For example, have you ever considered the possibility of horseback riding in the desert? From those lasting a few hours, suitable even for children, up to those lasting several days, ideal for adults and teenagers, these experiences allow you to experience Morocco with the necessary slowness, to be able to savor its landscapes and beauty with the attention they deserve... Watch out however, the long ocean beaches can also invite you to go for a nice fast gallop along the water.
The Ranch de Diabat is one of the most rooted in this sector: it is located in Essaouira, on the Atlantic Ocean, 170 km from Marrakech, and has many years of experience, with a staff accustomed to working with people from all over the world , able to satisfy the needs of the whole family and protect travelers with the necessary insurance coverage. In addition to horse trekking, you can take horse riding lessons, quad excursions in the desert, dromedary rides, you can experience tea at sunset, or that of a real Moroccan bivouac in the desert (we will talk in more detail about family activities in the next article).
A trip to Morocco and in particular to Essaouira, allows you to satisfy the tastes of adults and children, reconciling these activities in nature with the possibility of getting to know a territory closely where the religious, historical and cultural influences that have followed one another over time they left tangible traces on the shape of the town. You can go and discover the Casbah (the fortified citadel) and the Medina of Essaouira, which has been declared a world heritage site by UNESCO for the wealth of historical and cultural pearls it contains...but you can also take a walk to the square main place to eat excellent fresh fish, listen to street musicians and see seagulls flying.
In short, a journey full of experiences, scents and colors capable of enchanting children and adults alike...
At this point, however, we have to decide which stops to include in our trip to Morocco with children... but for this you will have to wait for the next article, in which we will tell you 10 unmissable experiences to live in Morocco!
