About us

Who are we? First of all, a family.

It all started in 1995, with a 12-year-old boy and his 17-year-old brother, Omar and Mohamed. In order to help their modest family, the older brother started giving short rides to passing tourists with an Arab Berber horse on the beach of Essaouira. After school, the younger brother helped him and together they gained experience.

The years went by and in 2003, after 8 years, they decided to set up a limited company with all their savings and thanks to the help of a dear friend, a French writer named Olivier Le Gendre (may he rest in peace), and to establish a base in Diabat near the Mosque and the family home.

From one horse, 10 horses were gradually acquired, and from one saddle, it was possible to obtain quality saddlery and harnesses for all the Ranch's cavalry.
The first one-week treks began to take place, thanks to which the first off-road car was purchased to ensure logistics, they were the first adventures, the first experiences.
In 2006, after three years, a tourist from Italy arrived in Morocco, a horse-riding enthusiast who, thanks to a Lonely Planet guide, came to the Diabat Ranch for a horse ride.
During that ride on 9 August 2006 her guide on horseback was Omar… Erika returned to the Ranch in the following days before returning to Italy, leaving her job, telling her parents that she had decided to go and live in Morocco, and on September 16th she returned to Morocco to stay.
From this union of love over the years and a marriage between Erika and Omar, Rayane and Soraya were born.

Erika, Omar and Mohamed began to work hard because they had a dream in common, to bring horse trekking in Morocco to the world.
So began appearances at all the international trade fairs, lots of one-week treks, more horses and equestrian equipment added, logistical experience acquired, an invaluable asset and the staff began to increase in number, as well as the national and international collaborations.
The three partners, however, had the dream of making the Ranch de Diabat a reference point in Morocco, not only for national and international equestrian tourism, but also a multi-sport centre.

Following this idea, they gradually added several dromedaries, designing a comfortable saddle for trekking over several days, and began to study routes suitable for trekking on foot, accompanied by logistics that had been tried and tested for years.
They began to acquire a large number of quads, even though it was an environmentally unfriendly sport, but using this means to help their customers discover the beauty of the unspoilt nature around Essaouira, with the utmost respect for nature and the animals encountered along the way.
Other activities were added over the years, such as treasure hunts in the medina of Essaouira, yoga in nature, and angling.

The desire to go further, to progress and never stop, spurred the three young people to acquire a lot of material for the organization of Luxury Bivouacs and Weddings in the nature. From here a big jump in the world of cinema, in the work of assistance and logistics and supply of films, musicals, video clips and presentations of new brands of cars / motorbikes, shot in the region of Essaouira, as well as assistance of Rally and cars / motorbikes passing in the region.
Although this journey has brought us much satisfaction, the desire to create new experiences is always at the forefront, and even now after this strange year of Pandemic, there are many new things in the pipeline.
