The horseback riding and lunch package allows you to discover Cap Sim: it is open to all, and the Ranch de Diabat team will adapt it to your equestrian skills, the level of the group and the tides.
Beginner riders
The route for beginner riders starts from the Ranch de Diabat, heading south. After passing Essaouira's beaches and the forest, you will find a picnic area near the fishing village. After lunch, the ride resumes towards the dunes of Cap Sim for a visit of the town, before returning to Essaouira.
Expert horsemen
On the route reserved for experienced riders, you ride eastwards, up a hill and through the Argan fields, past the river that runs alongside the village of Ghazoua, before descending towards the sand dunes.
We pass around the village, before stopping in the forest for lunch, and then climb back on horseback to Cap Sim, its high dunes and fishing village. The return to the Ranch de Diabat skirts the region's wild beaches.
Program
Otherwise, if you have a car, it will be easy to reach the Ranch, 3 km from the city centre. When you book your horseback riding and accommodation package, you will be sent a map and GPS point by email. You can park in the Ranch's private car park.
On arrival, you will be greeted by our staff who will show you the equestrian safety instructions, and you will be able to fill out the rental contract and meet your instructor who will help you choose your size cap.
The recommended clothing is long trousers and closed-toe shoes, and the weight of the rider should not exceed 90 kg to preserve the health of our Arab Berber horses.
You can carry your picnic in your saddlebags, consisting of a variety of salads, chicken kebabs to be cooked at lunchtime, seasonal fruit, bread, water and soft drinks, and tea freshly prepared over a wood fire.
The vegetarian menu consists of: a varied salad, zaalouk (a Moroccan aubergine starter), courgette meatballs, bread, water and soft drinks and tea prepared freshly over a wood fire.
We will take into account your food allergies, which you will indicate when you make your reservation.
This hike can start at 10am and arrive at the bivouac at 4.30pm, or it can finish at the bivouac at sunset and start later in the morning, depending on the season and the hours of light.
