1 Day Horse Ride with overnight in Berber Tent
Please Note: The Bivouac is only possible with a reservation and sending of passports 2 weeks before the activity, as requested by the competent authorities of Essaouira
The overnight horse ride is an excursion option accessible to all types of riders. The route is adapted to the riding level of the group. We offer two versions: for beginners and for experts. In addition, the programmes can be modified according to tide times.
The "beginners" option of horse riding with overnight accommodation begins with a walk along the river, on Diabat beach, and then into the eucalyptus and mimosa forest. It continues to the Omar dunes, and then to the fishing village to arrange a picnic lunch.
The tour resumes towards the south to arrive at Cap Sim and its large sand dunes. After a short break to visit this place, the route crosses the forest to get to the Ranch and then be transported by car to the camp.
The "expert riders" option of horse riding with overnight stay starts from the hill and, following the course of the river, towards the village of Ghazoua, before descending the dunes and taking a picnic break in an enchanting forest.
After lunch, the walk resumes towards Cap Sim, on the dunes. You will pass through several fishing villages, until you reach a freshwater spring where animals come to drink freely. You then climb up the wild beaches of Diabat to get to the Ranch and then be transported by car to the camp.
On both routes, the bivouac offers shelter from the wind, real mint tea and pastries. Under the Berber tent, a 100% Moroccan dinner awaits you: tagine of meat or fish or vegetables, bread and fruit.
The evening will be enlivened by a beautiful bonfire and the sounds of drums and stories from our staff.
After a night under the Berber tent, you can enjoy a hearty breakfast: bread, yoghurt, cheese, orange juice, coffee, milk and tea, before returning to the Ranch de Diabat.
The return journey will be by car. the camp is located 27 km away from the Ranch de Diabat.
There are two ways of getting to the Ranch: the free shuttle will pick you up in Essaouira at one of the pick-up points: Moulay Hassan Square, Bab Marrakech, Bab Daoukkala, or designate another point of your choice in the town, where the driver will come and pick you up and take you back at the end of the activity.
Otherwise, if you have a car, it will be easy to reach the Ranch, 3 km from the city centre. When you book your horse riding package with accommodation, you will be sent a map and GPS point by email. You can park in the Ranch's private car park.
On arrival, you will be greeted by our staff, who will show you the equestrian safety instructions, and you will be able to fill out the rental contract and meet your instructor who will help you choose your size cap.
You can carry your picnic in your saddlebags, consisting of a variety of salads, chicken kebabs to be cooked at lunchtime, seasonal fruit, bread, water and soft drinks, and tea freshly prepared over a wood fire.
The vegetarian menu consists of: a varied salad, zaalouk (a Moroccan aubergine starter), courgette meatballs, bread, water and soft drinks and tea prepared freshly over a wood fire.
We will take into account any food allergies you may have, which you will indicate when you make your booking.
On your arrival at the Berber bivouac for the night, you will find the camp prepared for the occasion, your typical tent ready to welcome you and your luggage, which you will have left in the morning at the reception of the Ranch.
You will take a shower with lukewarm water and have some time to relax and take a walk along the sea below the cliff where the bivouac is located.

After dinner, a joyful bonfire awaits you with musical entertainment to the sound of bongos and improvised dancing.
In the morning, a specially prepared breakfast is served before you say goodbye to the bivouac and return by car to the Ranch de Diabat. The horses will return with their own dedicated transport, as the bivouac site is located 27km away from the Ranch de Diabat.
