Women-Only Trip: New Year's Eve 2024 in Morocco

Women and travel? Of course! For women who love to travel, the chance to occasionally venture out, even solo, can be an excellent opportunity to reconnect with a new dimension, leaving behind the burdens of everyday life and finding in travel and exploratory curiosity the lightness that can help us discover not only new places in the world but also new perspectives on ourselves and the world we live in.

Women-Only Trip: New Year's Eve 2024 in Morocco

We generally believe we need an excuse to love ourselves: we're raised with the idea that we should take care of others first and only at the end, if we have time and energy left, dedicate a little time to ourselves. Whether it's our children, partners, parents, friends, colleagues, there's always someone more deserving of attention than ourselves. But if we don't stop every now and then, if we don't try to recharge our batteries, little by little we'll lose the strength to dedicate ourselves to others.

This is selfishness in the positive sense of the word: I need to love myself to recharge my batteries, to find my path, to realize my dreams, to take care of my happiness, to truly love myself and, consequently, be able to love others in the best way.

Sometimes, overwhelmed by tiredness, we tend to exaggerate situations that, seen "from the outside," from afar, we can analyze with more clarity, giving them the right dimension: so why not use the trip also as a tool to review our problem-solving skills? ;-)

Today we're starting from these premises for an alternative travel story of that wonderful country where the Ranch de Diabat is located: how about a beautiful women-only trip to Morocco?

Morocco for New Year's Eve with Destination Humana

This is not a far-fetched hypothesis but a real travel project that will take shape from December 30, 2024 to January 4, 2025.

The Italian tour operator Destinazione Umana, which organizes inspirational trips for women, arrives in Africa with a New Year's trip to Morocco, organized in collaboration with Erika, owner of the Ranch de Diabat.

I discovered "Destinazione Umana" during a group trip to the Aeolian Islands, and I realized I could bring this type of travel to my home country. Our innate spirit of hospitality makes us a natural addition to the many human destinations that welcome women travelers in Italy and around the world. Furthermore, those who come to Ranch de Diabat are mostly women: often they set out to fulfill their dream of traveling alone, or to savor the sense of freedom that comes from horseback riding or hiking through endless desert landscapes.

This women's trip to Morocco was born from the meeting between Silvia, owner of Destinazione Umana, and Erika, who left Italy to realize her Moroccan dream and therefore knows well what drives us to explore Morocco in search of that adventurous taste:

"Marrakech will be our gateway, showing us the country's historic and vibrant side. We'll then take time to learn about the times and spaces of Berber life. We'll ring in the New Year at the tented camp along the beach: stars, bonfires, and music will help us find harmony within the group and within ourselves."

What to do in Morocco for New Year's Eve? On this tour from Marrakech to Essaouira, you'll discover the locals, Morocco's native people, ready to share the hospitality of the past with a slower pace of life. You'll test yourselves as women and as travelers, alternating moments of shared life with moments of intimate reflection. You'll discover a nature that lives in harmony with humanity and get close to animals to rediscover yourself.

Women traveling alone in Morocco?

If you can't leave for New Year's Eve but still want to venture to Morocco alone and are wondering if it's feasible, the answer is: absolutely yes, even if you're a solo female traveler!

Morocco is an Islamic country, with a culture different from ours, but it is also a country very open to the West and accustomed to tourism for many years: traveling with respect, curiosity, and education allows you to make wonderful encounters and see the doors of the most genuine welcome wide open.

CLOTHING

In Morocco, you can encounter people dressed in any style, from a woman wearing a full veil to someone wearing very short shorts. A tourist respectful of the local culture can happily wear a T-shirt and shorts, as long as they don't expose too much of her body. No one will say anything if you wear a tank top, but, especially in rural areas less accustomed to tourism, it would be advisable to adopt more appropriate attire.

TRANSPORT

Public transportation covers the entire country from north to south, with one important difference. In the northern part, roughly between Tangier and Marrakesh, transportation is faster, more frequent, and more efficient (train, bus, etc.), while in the southern part, private or shared taxis and buses operate almost exclusively. CTM and Supratour are the most popular bus companies and also have online ticket offices, while other, lesser-known bus companies departing from local stations offer unique travel experiences, perhaps accompanied by chickens or an unspecified number of people.

If you choose to travel in a "Spartan" way, the key word is "flexibility": the duration of a trip is never certain and above all, a Plan B can be useful in case of missed departures!

In rural areas, hitchhiking is also safe because people living in simpler conditions are accustomed to helping those they meet on the street.

Don't rule out the possibility of renting a car: the roads are very safe because everyone respects the speed limits (fines for exceeding the speed limit are immediate and guaranteed!)

PERSONAL SAFETY

Even going out in the evening and at night isn't dangerous. Avoid the central areas of Casablanca or Fez, or the ports, which tend to be frequented by unsavory characters.

MORE INFORMATION

Road signs are written in European characters.

Internet coverage is guaranteed everywhere except in the most remote or mountainous areas.

Equip yourself with an eSIM before leaving or with a local SIM card that you can purchase at the airport to always have maps or a translator active in case of need.

The most widely spoken languages are French, English, and often Italian (while the Arabic spoken here is a dialectal form different from the native language).

There are no luggage stores, so for those traveling on the road it is definitely better to pack light.

One last tip: the winter flight schedules will be released in the coming weeks! Meanwhile, remember to make an appointment at the police station if you need to renew your passport: the wait times are long, and it's best not to leave it to the last minute.
