It all started in 1995 with a 12-year-old boy and his 17-year-old brother, Omar and Mohamed. To help their family of modest origins, the older brother started with an Arab-Berber horse on the beach of Essaouira, offering short rides to passing tourists. The younger brother helped him after school, and together they learned from the school of life.
Years passed, and in 2003, after 8 years, they decided to form an SARL company with all their savings and the help of a dear friend, a French writer named Olivier Le Gendre (may he rest in peace), setting up their base in Diabat near the Mosque and their family home.
Thus, Ranch de Diabat was born.
From one horse, they slowly acquired 10. From one saddle, they managed to get quality saddlery and harnesses for the entire cavalry of the Ranch.
They began organizing their first week-long treks, which allowed them to buy their first off-road vehicle to ensure logistics. These were the first adventures, the first experiences. Read more
In 2006, after 3 years, an Italian tourist passionate about horseback riding arrived in Morocco. Thanks to the Lonely Planet guide, she found her way to Ranch de Diabat for a horseback ride. Her name was Erika.
During that ride on August 9, 2006, her guide was Omar... Erika returned to the Ranch in the following days before going back to Italy, quitting her job, telling her parents she had decided to move to Morocco, and on September 16, she returned to Morocco to stay.
From this union of love over the years and the marriage between Erika and Omar, Rayane and Soraya were born.
Erika, Omar, and Mohamed began working hard because they shared a common dream: to bring horseback trekking in Morocco to the world.
Thus began their appearances at all major international trade fairs. They organized countless week-long treks, added more horses and equestrian gear, and gained invaluable logistical experience. The staff began to grow, and national and international collaborations increased.
However, the three partners dreamt of making Ranch de Diabat a reference point in Morocco, not just for national and international Equestrian Tourism, but also as a Multi-Sport center.
Following this idea, they gradually added several dromedaries, designing a comfortable saddle for multi-day treks. They began studying routes suitable for hiking, supported by their well-tested logistics.
They also acquired a significant number of quads. Although it’s a less ecological sport, they used these vehicles to help clients discover the beauty of the pristine nature around Essaouira, with the utmost respect for the environment and the animals encountered along the way.
Over the years, other wonderful activities were added, such as a treasure hunt in the Essaouira medina, Yoga in nature, and fishing.
The desire to go further, progress, and never stop soon spurred the three young partners to acquire plenty of equipment for organizing Luxury Bivouacs and Weddings immersed in nature. From there, they made a big leap into the film industry, providing assistance, logistics, and supply for films, musicals, music videos, and new car/motorcycle brand presentations shot in the Essaouira region, as well as support for Rallies and passing vehicles.
Although the path they’ve traveled has brought much satisfaction, the drive to create new experiences is always at the forefront. Even now, after a strange pandemic year, there are many new projects in the pipeline.
We will continue to surprise ourselves and surprise you.
