The horseback riding and lunch package allows you to discover Cap Sim: it is open to everyone, and the Ranch de Diabat team will adapt it to your riding skills, the group level, and the tides.
Beginner riders
The route for beginner riders starts from Ranch de Diabat, heading south. After riding along the beaches of Essaouira and through the forest, you will find a picnic area near the fishing village. After lunch, the ride continues towards the dunes of Cap Sim for a visit to the town before returning to Essaouira.
Experienced riders
On the route reserved for more experienced riders, you ride east, ascending a hill and crossing the Argan fields, beyond the river bordering the village of Ghazoua, before descending towards the sand dunes.
You pass around the village before stopping in the forest for lunch, then remount to reach Cap Sim, its high dunes, and the fishing village. The return to Ranch de Diabat follows the wild beaches of the region.
Program
Alternatively, if you have a vehicle, it is easy to reach the Ranch, 3 km from the city center. When booking the horseback riding package with overnight stay, you will receive the map and GPS point by email. You can park safely in the Ranch’s private parking lot.
Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by our staff who will explain the equestrian safety instructions, and you can complete the rental contract and meet your instructor who will help you choose the saddle of your size.
Recommended clothing is long pants and closed shoes; the rider’s weight must not exceed 90 kg to preserve the health of our Arab-Berber breed horses.
You can bring your picnic in the saddlebags, consisting of: mixed salad, chicken skewers to be cooked at lunch, seasonal fruit, bread, water and soft drinks, and tea prepared on the spot over a wood fire.
The vegetarian menu consists of: mixed salad, zaalouk (a Moroccan eggplant appetizer), zucchini balls, bread, water and soft drinks, and tea prepared on the spot over a wood fire.
We will take into account any food allergies you indicate at the time of booking.
This excursion can start at 10 a.m. to arrive at the bivouac by 4:30 p.m., or it can end at the bivouac at sunset and start later in the morning, depending on the season and daylight hours.
Best preparation

Maximum allowed weight 90kg (the organization reserves the right to refuse participation in the trek to anyone who does not declare their actual weight if it exceeds the limit, and no refund will be provided. The health of the horses is the priority)
- Riding level: no specific riding level is required to take part in this excursion; beginners are also accepted, but in their case, trotting and galloping are not guaranteed and will be assessed on a case-by-case basis
- Clothing: To participate in this horseback riding excursion, please wear long pants and closed shoes

BOOKING CONDITIONS:
All activities must be paid in advance in order to be confirmed.
BOOKING CONFIRMATION:
The booking will be confirmed upon receipt of the confirmation email sent by our staff or by the booking system, once the balance has been paid.
PAYMENT METHODS:
- Bank transfer to a Moroccan bank (sending proof of payment by email at least 7 days before the activity is mandatory)
- International credit card (Mastercard, Visa, American Express – via PayPal or Factobox)
ON-SITE PAYMENT:
For on-site bookings, for which availability cannot be guaranteed without advance payment, it is possible to pay in cash (Moroccan dirhams).
CANCELLATION CONDITIONS:
Any interruption of the activity requested by the client for any reason requires dedicated assistance, which involves an additional cost.
This cost will be charged on site, communicated at the time, and depends on the location where the client interrupts the activity.
The client agrees to pay this cost.
Please note: weather conditions or illness are not covered by the organizer but by the client’s own travel insurance.
In the event of cancellation by the client, the following penalties will apply:
- More than 30 days before arrival: 30% of the total booking amount will be retained
- Between 29 and 10 days before arrival: 60% of the total booking amount will be retained
- Between 9 and 3 days before arrival: 75% of the total booking amount will be retained
- Less than 48 hours before arrival: 100% of the total booking amount will be retained
CHILDREN CONDITIONS:
Young children also pay the full price, as they will ride on a horse led by a dedicated instructor. Safety vests and riding helmets will be provided. For safety reasons, it is strictly forbidden for a child to ride on the same horse as an adult. Only the instructor may, if necessary, take a small child on the saddle; however, preferably, the instructor will accompany the child on foot, staying alongside them.
