The 3-hour horseback ride is suitable for all riding levels. Our instructors will be able to manage the group thanks to their experience and the gentleness of our Arabian-Berber horses, trained for all types of riders.
The 3-hour horseback ride starts at the Ranch, where you will be instructed on how to ride a horse.
Leaving the Ranch de Diabat, you will set off towards the mimosa and eucalyptus forest, through the dunes, and arrive at the beautiful wild beach where you can gallop (according to your equestrian experience) and breathe in the salty air of the Atlantic Ocean.
You will gradually approach a small fishing village, continuing along a wild and pristine beach, until you reach the freshwater springs flowing from the beach, where many semi-free animals (cows, donkeys, dromedaries and seagulls) regularly come to drink.
From here you will head back north towards Essaouira , and before your eyes will appear the Portuguese Castle, which once served as a lookout for pirate ships arriving from the coast, now in ruins and at the mercy of the elements, but with an ancestral charm to admire.
You can admire Mogador Island and observe the ancient prison and mosque still intact, but unfortunately it is not possible to visit them, as the island is home to a rare species of falcon and is therefore a protected nature reserve.
You'll continue along the Kassob River, where you'll encounter seasonal migratory birds of rare beauty. Finally, you'll pass the ruins of Sultan Moulay Abdallah's Palace, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The 3-hour horseback ride will conclude at the Ranch de Diabat, where you can relax on the terrace until the staff takes you back to Essaouira via the free shuttle, or you can set off on your own if you have your own transport.
Three-hour horseback excursions are available every day of the week by appointment and subject to the availability of instructors and horses.
Riders who wish can participate in preparing the horse, from cleaning to saddling before going out for a ride.
Plan
Otherwise, if you have a car, it's easy to reach the Ranch, located 3 km from the city center. When you book your horseback riding package, you'll be emailed a map and GPS location. You can park in the Ranch's private parking lot.
You'll be greeted by our staff, who will show you the equestrian safety instructions, and you'll be able to fill out the rental contract and meet your instructor, who will help you choose the right helmet size for you.
Recommended attire is long pants and closed-toe shoes. The rider's weight should not exceed 90 kg to preserve the health of our Berber Arabian horses.
You will admire the pristine mimosa and eucalyptus forest rooted in high sand dunes, the beautiful ocean beach, the dunes surrounding it, the Portuguese Castle, a fishing village, the freshwater springs gushing out on the beach, the large dunes, the banks of the Kassob River, the Sultan's Palace and much more.
Prepare yourself as best as possible
- The maximum permitted weight of the rider is 90 kg (The organization reserves the right to deny admission to the trek if anyone who fails to declare their actual weight exceeds the limit, and no refunds will be given. The health of the horses comes first.)
- Equestrian Level: To take part in this excursion it is not necessary to have an equestrian level, even beginners are accepted, but in their case we do not guarantee the possibility of trotting and galloping, which will be examined on a case-by-case basis.
- Clothing: To participate in this For horseback riding excursions, please wear long trousers and closed shoes.

BOOKING CONDITIONS:
All activities must be paid in advance in order to be confirmed.
BOOKING CONFIRMATION:
The booking will be confirmed upon receipt of the confirmation email sent by our staff or by the booking system, once the balance has been paid.
PAYMENT METHODS:
- Bank transfer to a Moroccan bank (sending proof of payment by email at least 7 days before the activity is mandatory)
- International credit card (Mastercard, Visa, American Express – via PayPal or Factobox)
ON-SITE PAYMENT:
For on-site bookings, for which availability cannot be guaranteed without advance payment, it is possible to pay in cash (Moroccan dirhams).
CANCELLATION CONDITIONS:
Any interruption of the activity requested by the client for any reason requires dedicated assistance, which involves an additional cost. This cost will be charged on site, communicated at the time, and depends on the location where the client interrupts the activity.
The client agrees to pay this cost.
Please note: weather conditions or illness are not covered by the organizer but by the client’s own travel insurance.
In the event of cancellation by the client, the following penalties will apply:
- More than 30 days before arrival: 30% of the total booking amount will be retained
- Between 29 and 10 days before arrival: 60% of the total booking amount will be retained
- Between 9 and 3 days before arrival: 75% of the total booking amount will be retained
- Less than 48 hours before arrival: 100% of the total booking amount will be retained
CHILDREN CONDITIONS:
Young children also pay the full price, as they will ride on a horse led by a dedicated instructor. Safety vests and riding helmets will be provided. For safety reasons, it is strictly forbidden for a child to ride on the same horse as an adult. Only the instructor may, if necessary, take a small child on the saddle; however, preferably, the instructor will accompany the child on foot, staying alongside them.
