A unique opportunity to experience the magical moment of SUNSET on horseback in Essaouira, on the beach.
Ranch de Diabat is located in the village of Diabat and has exclusive access to the southern beach, surrounded by dunes, a eucalyptus tree forest, and looking westward, the Atlantic Ocean with its waves. The ruined Portuguese castle, lapped by the waters at high tide, the Island of Mogador which houses an ancient prison with the mosque minaret visible from afar.
And with this landscape, riding along this beach, watching the sun set, a unique magic.
Depending on the season, the sky takes on different colors; summer sunsets mostly have a clear sky due to the constant wind blowing from the north, while autumn skies are dotted with clouds that reflect the light in ever-changing ways, almost forming new paintings.
It is difficult to choose which is the most beautiful, but we invite you to send us your photographs and try together to decide.
The exact time of the ride and meeting will be carefully communicated by reception based on the actual sunset time, which varies day by day and season by season.
We guarantee the viewing of the sunset on the beach; you will return to the Ranch immediately afterward to avoid darkness.
We are not responsible for adverse weather conditions, which do not constitute grounds for cancellation or complaint. (We do our best to satisfy you but we do not yet have superpowers over the weather )
Program
Alternatively, if you have a vehicle, it will be easy to reach the Ranch, 3 km from the city center. When booking the horseback riding package with overnight stay, you will be sent the map and GPS point via email. You can park safely in the Ranch’s private parking.
Upon arrival at Reception, you will be welcomed by our staff who will show you the equestrian safety instructions, and you can complete the rental contract and meet your instructor who will help you choose the saddle of your size.
Recommended clothing is long pants and closed shoes, and the rider’s weight must not exceed 90kg to preserve the health of our Arabian-Berber breed horses.
You will leave the equestrian center on horseback heading towards the beach, following the banks of the Kassob river, visit the Palace of Sultan Moulay Abdallah, continue towards the dunes and the beautiful beach where you can gallop. You will be able to admire the Portuguese Castle and see up close the Island of Mogador with its mosque and ancient prison.
Prepare Yourself Well
- The maximum allowed rider weight is 90 kg (the organization reserves the right to refuse participation in the trek to those who do not declare their actual weight if it exceeds the limit, and no refund will be provided. The health of the horses is the priority)
- Equestrian Level: It is not necessary to have an equestrian level to take part in this excursion; beginners are also accepted, but in their case, the possibility to trot and gallop is not guaranteed and will be assessed on a case-by-case basis
- Clothing: To participate in this horseback riding excursion, please wear long pants and closed shoes

Horse rental, equestrian guides, riding helmets, transportation to and from the city of Essaouira.

BOOKING CONDITIONS
All activities must be paid in advance in order to be confirmed.
BOOKING CONFIRMATION:
The booking will be confirmed upon receipt of the confirmation email sent by our staff or by the booking system, once the balance has been paid.
PAYMENT METHODS:
- Bank transfer to a Moroccan bank (sending proof of payment by email at least 7 days before the activity is mandatory)
- International credit card (Mastercard, Visa, American Express – via PayPal or Factobox)
ON-SITE PAYMENT:
For on-site bookings, for which availability cannot be guaranteed without advance payment, it is possible to pay in cash (Moroccan dirhams).
CANCELLATION CONDITIONS:
Any interruption of the activity requested by the client for any reason requires dedicated assistance, which involves an additional cost.
This cost will be charged on site, communicated at the time, and depends on the location where the client interrupts the activity.
The client agrees to pay this cost.
Please note: weather conditions or illness are not covered by the organizer but by the client’s own travel insurance.
In the event of cancellation by the client, the following penalties will apply:
- More than 30 days before arrival: 30% of the total booking amount will be retained
- Between 29 and 10 days before arrival: 60% of the total booking amount will be retained
- Between 9 and 3 days before arrival: 75% of the total booking amount will be retained
- Less than 48 hours before arrival: 100% of the total booking amount will be retained
CHILDREN CONDITIONS:
Young children also pay the full price, as they will ride on a horse led by a dedicated instructor. Safety vests and riding helmets will be provided. For safety reasons, it is strictly forbidden for a child to ride on the same horse as an adult. Only the instructor may, if necessary, take a small child on the saddle; however, preferably, the instructor will accompany the child on foot, staying alongside them.
