The 2-hour dromedary ride is an excursion suitable for beginners and groups with children.
The duration of this tour is ideal for getting acquainted with the animal, a calm and gentle companion. The dromedary will invite you to calmly explore the surroundings of the village of Diabat, near Essaouira.
A beautiful route along the banks of the Oued Qsob, with its seasonal migratory birds, leading to the stunning Black Sultan's Palace.
You will continue at a steady pace towards the forest of mimosa and eucalyptus, then reach the magnificent, very long beach south of the city, from which you can admire Mogador Island and the Portuguese Castle, an ancient lookout guarding approaching ships.
The dromedary is a calm animal accessible to everyone and will allow you to enjoy a pleasant time with family or friends.
Program
For those with their own transport, it is easy to reach the Ranch de Diabat, located just 3 km from the city center. A map and GPS coordinates will be sent by email, and you can park safely in the Ranch's private parking lot.
Upon arrival at Reception, you will be welcomed by our staff who will introduce your guide.
This ride is suitable for adults and even small children, who can ride on the same dromedary as their parents at a reduced rate.
Your guide will explain how to mount the dromedaries, already seated and ready to take you on the ride; with the help of the footrest step, you can easily climb onto the comfortable saddle, designed and made by Ranch de Diabat for maximum comfort during the ride.
Once mounted on the dromedary, you will proceed in a caravan towards the beach, following the banks of the Qassob River.
You will visit the Palace of Sultan Moulay Abdallah, the setting of several films and now part of the UNESCO World Heritage.
From here, you will enter the beautiful and lush forest of mimosa and eucalyptus, where you may encounter many land turtles and gather eucalyptus berries and leaves to make a decoction and balsamic vapors to use in case of a cold.
The terrain in this forest is sandy and full of ups and downs, sometimes leading you into small hollows and other times onto hills that overlook the enchanting view, a true paradise for the eyes.
You will continue towards the dunes and the beautiful beach, where you can experience the thrill of walking in the ocean water atop these majestic animals with long, dynamic legs.
You will be able to admire the Portuguese Castle and see Mogador Island up close with its mosque and ancient prison.
Remember that the dromedary is a calm animal, the ride takes place in a caravan, one behind the other, the saddles are comfortable, wearing a protective helmet is not necessary, the route touches on interesting historical and natural sites and is designed to admire the landscape and nature, learn about history and some interesting anecdotes, and connect with a way of training this gentle animal naturally and ethologically.
Prepare Yourself Well
- Experience Level: no experience is required to take part in this excursion
- Clothing: Recommended clothing for this excursion is casual; shorts and flip-flops are also possible. In case of wind, it is advisable to wear a light jacket to protect against the wind and a scarf, as well as sunglasses.

BOOKING CONDITIONS:
All activities must be paid in advance in order to be confirmed.
PAYMENT METHODS:
- Bank transfer to a Moroccan bank (sending proof of payment by email at least 7 days before the activity is mandatory)
- International credit card (Mastercard, Visa, American Express – via PayPal or Factobox)
ON-SITE PAYMENT:
For on-site bookings, for which availability cannot be guaranteed without advance payment, it is possible to pay in cash (Moroccan dirhams).
CANCELLATION CONDITIONS:
Any interruption of the activity requested by the client for any reason requires dedicated assistance, which involves an additional cost. This cost will be charged on site, communicated at the time, and depends on the location where the client interrupts the activity.
The client agrees to pay this cost.
Please note: weather conditions or illness are not covered by the organizer but by the client’s own travel insurance.
In the event of cancellation by the client, the following penalties will apply:
- More than 30 days before arrival: 30% of the total booking amount will be retained
- Between 29 and 10 days before arrival: 60% of the total booking amount will be retained
- Between 9 and 3 days before arrival: 75% of the total booking amount will be retained
- Less than 48 hours before arrival: 100% of the total booking amount will be retained
CHILDREN CONDITIONS:
- Children from 0 to 4 years old are free of charge (sharing the camel with their parents, maximum one child with one adult)
- Children from 5 to 8 years old: half price if sharing the camel (maximum one child with one adult), full price if riding alone
- From 9 years old: full price whether riding alone or sharing the camel
NB: each camel may carry a maximum of two people, including babies, for safety reasons. If a family of two adults has three children, the oldest child will ride on a camel alone or with the guide, paying the corresponding fee.
