The end of Ramadan is celebrated on the first day of the month of Shawwal, specifically with a three-day festival called Id al-Fitr (Feast of the Breaking of the Fast). The celebration often includes reunions with relatives and friends, with family meals and the exchange of gifts. Especially in large cities , you may see the faithful praying in the streets or hear echoes of celebration from neighbors. Indeed, the celebrations for the end of Ramadan include prayers, but also gatherings with relatives to celebrate this moment of great religious significance with banquets and gifts.

What is Eid al-Fitr?
It marks the end of Ramadan , but in a religious sense, it marks the end of the month in which the Quran was first revealed to the Prophet. It is a very important holiday for the Islamic community and is second only to Eid al-Adha, the Feast of Sacrifice held at the end of the Pilgrimage to Mecca and commemorating Abraham's sacrifice.
The peculiarity of this holiday is that it is extremely difficult to pinpoint exactly when it will occur each year . Not only does it change date, but it also varies depending on the part of the world where it is celebrated. In fact, Ramadan follows the lunar calendar, which is based exclusively on the phases of the moon. Eid al-Fitr therefore corresponds to the first day of the month of Shawwal, which is set when the new moon appears in the sky.
For this reason, there is no set date valid for the entire Islamic world : Eid al-Fitr is in fact set according to the geographical location of a given country. That is, there may be differences from region to region regarding the entry of the new moon into the sky and thus the beginning of the month of Shawwal.
How is it celebrated?

The celebration marking the end of the fast traditionally begins at dawn on the first day of the month of Shawwal, with a special prayer called Salat al-Fajr. This is followed by lunches, most often spent with family. After services held both at home and in mosques, people visit their closest friends and relatives.
Lunch has a very important meaning, as it is the first meal that can be eaten after a month of fasting from dawn to dusk. In a way, this meal marks the actual passage of the month of Ramadan and the end of abstinence from food during daylight hours. Every country sees all the main traditional foods of that region appear on their families' tables during Eid al-Fitr.
