The climate
First of all, what is the climate like in Morocco?
Being located in the north-western part of the desert , therefore along the coast, it is typically Mediterranean with mild, rainy winters and hot, dry summers.
Essaouira is located in the lowlands near the coast, so the summer heat is mitigated by cool sea breezes . However, keep in mind that in Morocco, you need to be prepared not only for the climate but also for the temperature variations between day and night , caused by the proximity to the desert.
The suitcase
Each activity requires appropriate clothing and equipment, so what to pack will depend on the type of trip you decide to take.
Among the most requested activities at our Ranch are horseback riding and desert trekking .
Here's what we recommend packing : a few t-shirts, some cotton clothing, a long-sleeved shirt for sun protection, a fleece for the wind, two or three pairs of riding pants or other comfortable clothing, a waterproof poncho for protection from any showers. Hiking boots or shoes, gaiters or chaps, a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen.
Don't forget your sleeping bag, nice and warm for temperatures that can reach -15°C, a flashlight for the night, tissues, thermal underwear, a medium-light jacket (400-500g) and medicines to prevent intestinal infections.
A water bottle is essential.
And finally, a good power bank for your cell phones and cameras that will help you capture the unforgettable views and glimpses you encounter in this wonderful land: our beloved Morocco.
The formalities
Essential: your passport . A visa is not required for European travellers, but travel documents are also important: the Moroccan authorities require that you also present your return flight ticket or documents for your onward journey.
Travel insurance is required . To book some of our activities, we require travel cancellation insurance, including insurance for illness and COVID-19, as well as travel insurance for any illness or accident. Our clients recommend Mondial Assistance (Allianz Partners), Nomad Insurance, or Amex Insurance.
Ranch De Diabat has its own insurance, however each customer is required to have their own.
