Horseback trekking tour in the Moroccan desert
Please note: The bivouac is only possible with a reservation and sending of passports 2 weeks before the activity, as required by the competent authorities of Essaouira.
The equestrian trekking experience allows you to experience three intense days of excitement, discovery, and exploration, fully immersed in pristine nature, accompanied by our faithful Arabian Berber horses.
The 3-day, 2-night horseback riding tour is designed for those with less time available but who want to truly immerse themselves in nature and the world of horses, enjoying an outdoor activity, sleeping in Berber bivouacs, and tasting excellent Moroccan cuisine.
Unforgettable horseback excursions through wild nature and boundless landscapes
We'll depart from the Ranch de Diabat. You'll meet your guide, your horse, and your traveling companions. From here, you'll head inland, crossing small natural canyons carved by the Ksob River. You'll then climb a hill, offering a wonderful panoramic view of the port of Essaouira, Mogador Island, and the natural ocean lagoon.
From here, you'll pass through argan forests, pristine beaches, cliffs overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, and the immense dunes of Cap Sim, whose mistral lighthouse will light your way back. This horseback trek offers breathtaking scenery and unforgettable experiences.
Plan
Day 1: Arrival
Meet at the Ranch at 10:00 a.m. to meet your fellow travelers, your guide, and the horses. A full-day trek will take you up and down small canyons and across sand dunes. At lunchtime, you'll meet the staff who will serve you lunch, a revitalizing break.
In the afternoon, you'll cross the Argan forest to your designated overnight stop, where you'll find tents already set up and designated areas for caring for the horses. The work team will welcome you with a delicious Moroccan tea and a warm shower to recharge your batteries. A delicious Moroccan dinner will be served by the bonfire, which will liven up the evening.
Day 2: Between cliffs and the Atlantic Ocean
After a hearty breakfast and preparing your steed, we set off towards the sea. You'll see varied landscapes and diverse terrain where you can put your equestrian skills into practice and develop a close bond with your horse. A mandatory lunch break, carefully prepared by the staff, will pamper you and delight you with a short nap for horse and rider before getting back in the saddle and heading to the cliffs overlooking the beach and the Atlantic Ocean.
Once you reach the bivouac overlooking the sea, you can take care of your horses and take a relaxing break for a walk on the beach, a swim in the ocean (paying close attention to the currents), and plenty of sunset photographs. An evening of entertainment in front of the campfire; who knows who will be playing the guitar or bongos, or who will be dancing? Meanwhile, dinner will be served by our chef, until it's time to retire to the Berber tents.
Day 3: Departure
After breakfast and preparing the horses, we set off through a surfing village, then reach a fishing port and climb towards a huge sandy promontory with a breathtaking view of the Atlantic Ocean.
You'll cross a sea of dunes, entering a bygone era where so many films were shot. You'll leave behind an immense lighthouse that guides ships toward the port of Essaouira, and continue to the long, deserted beach that will provide the backdrop for beautiful gallops. In the background, the Island of Mogador, the Portuguese Castle, a sign of your imminent arrival, a final gallop before passing the Palace of Sultan Moulay Ben Abdallah, a historic monument listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
From here you will arrive at the Ranch de Diabat to conclude this beautiful adventure and have lunch together on the Ranch's terrace.
