Six-hour Walking Excursion to Sidi Kaouky

A free shuttle is available from one of the pickup points: Piazza Moulay Hassan, Bab Marrakech, Bab Doukkala, or you can designate another pickup point from where you will be collected and then returned after the tour.

For those with their own transport, it will be easy to reach the Ranch de Diabat, located just 3 km from the city center. A map and GPS coordinates will be sent by email, and you can park safely in the Ranch's private parking lot.

Upon arrival at Reception, you will be welcomed by our staff who will show you the route you will take and introduce your guide.

Leaving the Ranch de Diabat, you will follow the road along the Qsob river, where you can admire various migratory and resident birds, and from here you will soon reach a UNESCO World Heritage historical site: the palace of Sultan Moulay Ben Abdallah, where you can walk among the remains of this splendid ancient palace and listen to the history your guide will share.

From here to the beach, through wonderful dunes from which you can admire the ocean as far as the eye can see. Descending, you will reach the Portuguese Castle, built by the Phoenicians as a guard post for ships arriving from the coast.

Continuing south, you can visit the forest of mimosa and eucalyptus. Over sandy terrain with ups and downs, you will arrive at an ancient well where animals drink, so it is common to encounter groups of sheep and goats, dromedaries, cows and calves, and donkeys.

Your guide will prepare tea over a wood fire in the nomadic tradition.

You can continue along the vast beach heading south, where you will find a small fishing village with wooden houses overlooking the sea, and nearby the fresh water springs that flow from the beach.

You will climb the high sandy dunes of Cap Sim, where at the end you will spot the white lighthouse that helps ships return to the port of Essaouira, and behind it the wind turbines of the wind farm that supplies electricity to the region.

At the top of the dunes, you can admire two seas, one behind you made of sand and the other in front of you made of water, an incredible spectacle!

You will descend toward a natural cave carved by the sea, dotted with many stones smoothed by marine currents, a unique sight. It will be time to get comfortable, admire the ocean, and enjoy lunch.
Choice of menu: grilled chicken with mixed salad, seasonal fruit, handmade bread, and drinks. Alternatively, a vegetarian menu will be offered on request, and we will be attentive to any food allergies you inform us about.

From here, you will ascend to the village of Ouessen, which offers a breathtaking view of the bays of Sidi Kaouky and Taguenza.

You will descend along a path traced through a thicket of small shrubs to the beach, passing an ancient well and shortly after the new fishing port of Taguenza, where colorful small boats line the beach, fishermen animate the area helping each other with a tractor to launch boats or retrieve them from the sea with fresh catch.

Soon after, you will arrive at Sidi Kaouky in the village center known worldwide for water sports: surfing, windsurfing, and kitesurfing. Here the shuttle will take you back to Essaouira for a well-deserved rest, full of beautiful images, memories, and many photographs.

• Level: to take part in this excursion, you must be in good physical condition to walk on terrain varying between soft and hard sand, with ups and downs, for about 6 hours including a break, covering between 27 and 30 km.
• Clothing: For this walking excursion, wear comfortable long or short pants and closed shoes, bring a 10-15 liter backpack with water, sunglasses, sunscreen, a hat, and Nordic walking poles if desired are recommended.
