Morocco horseback trekking for 8 days along the Atlantic Coast
An eight-day trekking, six of which are on horseback, along the Atlantic coast from Essaouira southwards or vice versa.
During this trip in Morocco you will have the chance to visit fishing villages, small wild private beaches, freshwater springs flowing from the beach at low tide. The wonderful view from the cliffs overlooking the ocean will leave you amazed.
Each day a different landscape, a different terrain, where you can experience the three gaits: walk, trot, and canter, together with your faithful travel companion, who day by day during this equestrian trekking will trust you more and more, and with whom you will have the chance to establish a special connection.
You will need to take care of your horse during the lunch break; in the evening upon arrival at the bivouac, you will give it water and its food ration; this will be a special part of this unique experience.
Discovering Berber culture and its splendid villages
You will have the opportunity to make beautiful encounters along your path: shepherds grazing with their animals, beekeepers tending to the hives, farmers working in the fields, some with agricultural machinery and others helped by mules, donkeys, or dromedaries for plowing the land.
You will meet fishermen who, from the cliffs or rocks, will offer you the fresh catch of the day. Or women washing clothes by the river, who will offer you a cup of tea at their home and freshly baked homemade bread.
Of great interest is the culinary and food aspect; our chef will delight your palate and let you taste the typical cuisine of Morocco, offering a different dish each day, freshly prepared and attentive to any food allergies or preferences you have communicated to us beforehand. Tastes, flavors, and aromas will accompany you throughout the week and will be part of your memories of this tour in Morocco.
Horseback rides in Morocco: explore the nature and traditions of the region
This horseback trekking on the Atlantic Ocean is not only a unique equestrian and culinary experience, but also a way to travel slowly to rediscover contact with nature, ancient and current crafts, and to repopulate the rural areas of authentic Morocco with responsible tourism.
All with the logistical support of Ranch de Diabat, which with all its years of experience will ensure you a unique stay with attentive staff and the best Arab-Berber horses at your disposal.
Program
Day 1: Arrival
Arrival at Marrakech or Essaouira airport, welcome and transfer to Essaouira where you will have a briefing with the equestrian trek leader. Dinner and overnight at a hotel.
Day 2-6: Among eucalyptus and mimosa forests, beaches, and sand dunes
The trek along the Atlantic Ocean takes you through eucalyptus and mimosa forests, along beautiful deserted beaches on the southern coast. It includes narrow trails, small Berber villages, sand dunes, and waterfalls. After climbing the cliffs and crossing fishing villages, you ascend inland to meet isolated villages and plateaus with scattered argan trees.
The Atlantic Coast program is a succession of deserted beaches, cliffs, and trails crossing the dry and rocky inland terrain. Every evening you will experience the life of Berber nomads with a bivouac, discovering the Moroccan meal prepared by our chef before enjoying a good night's rest in the Berber tent.
Day 7: Horseback ride on the Atlantic Coast
The excursion ends with a half-day horseback ride along the coast, crossing a palm valley and a river that irrigates all the vegetation in the area. Here the Atlantic Ocean opens up before your eyes. Arrival is relatively early to allow time to return by car to Essaouira, do last-minute shopping before departure. Dinner and overnight at a hotel in Essaouira.
Day 8: Departure
Transfer to Marrakech or Essaouira airport.

If your flight arrives after 2:00 PM, a small surcharge will be charged for the extra transport to Essaouira, which will be by bus instead of taxi. If the bus schedules are not compatible, you can use a private taxi for €80 to be shared with those arriving late.
For the return trip, please book a flight from Marrakech departing after 12 noon. Those who need to fly earlier can use a private taxi at €80 to share with others leaving early. Count 6 hours before the flight departure time, including 3 hours for the road from Essaouira to Marrakech and 3 hours to be at the airport on time.
Travel insurance
The travel insurance that we require you to arrange must include cancellation coverage if the client withdraws before the trip for personal reasons. If the client does not want to arrange this insurance, they will be responsible for cancellation and the consequent non-refund of travel expenses.
We also require medical coverage during the trip, which is mandatory for trekking bookings. Medical insurance must cover any illness or accident during the trip and include horseback riding as a non-competitive activity.
We can recommend what our clients have reported after many years of trekking; Heymondo offers a single insurance that covers both cancellation and accidents, and horseback riding can be included. Our advice is based on positive feedback from our clients; if you have good experiences with other insurances, please let us know.
Attention: insurance must be arranged simultaneously with the purchase of the horseback trekking
Ranch de Diabat has its own insurance; however, every client is required to have their own personal insurance.
Equestrian level
To participate in a multi-day horseback trekking with us and our beautiful Arabian Barb horses, we need to select riders:
- being skilled in the three gaits: walk, trot, canter when required
- maximum weight 90kg
- good posture at the trot to avoid injuring the horse's back
- taking care of the horse assigned during the trek, saddling, unsaddling, cleaning, giving water and food

The experience is immersive and includes all these elements that help create an even more genuine bond with the horse that will carry you around.
Please provide your detailed equestrian experience to help us choose the best adventure companion for you.

In the case of single travelers: if we do not find anyone for a double or triple room (men with men and women with women), we must charge a supplement of €30 for a single room per night per person. The same supplement applies to those who want a single room.
