The horseback ride and lunch package allows you to discover Cap Sim: it is open to everyone, and the Ranch de Diabat team will adapt it to your riding ability, the group's level, and the tides.
Beginner riders
From the Ranch de Diabat, the beginner-friendly route begins, heading south. After riding along Essaouira's beaches and through the forest, you'll find a picnic area near the fishing village. After lunch, the ride continues towards the dunes of Cap Sim for a tour of the city before returning to Essaouira.
Experienced knights
On the route reserved for more experienced riders, you ride east, climbing a hill and crossing the argan fields, beyond the river that runs alongside the village of Ghazoua, before descending towards the sand dunes.
We pass around the village before stopping in the forest for lunch. Then we remount our horses and head to Cap Sim, its high dunes and fishing village. The return ride to the Ranch de Diabat runs along the region's wild beaches.
Plan
Otherwise, if you have a car, it's easy to reach the Ranch, located 3 km from the city center. When you book the horseback riding package with overnight stay, you'll be sent a map and GPS location by email. You can park in the Ranch's private parking lot.
Upon arrival, you'll be greeted by our staff who will show you the equestrian safety instructions. You'll also be able to fill out the rental agreement and meet your instructor, who will help you choose the right helmet size for you.
Recommended attire is long trousers and closed shoes. The rider's weight should not exceed 90 kg to preserve the health of our Berber Arabian horses.
You can bring your own picnic in your saddlebags, consisting of: a varied salad, chicken skewers to cook at lunchtime, seasonal fruit, bread, water and soft drinks, and tea prepared freshly over a wood fire.
The vegetarian menu, on the other hand, consists of: a varied salad, zaalouk (a Moroccan aubergine-based appetizer), courgette meatballs, bread, water and soft drinks, and tea prepared freshly over a wood fire.
We will take into account any food allergies you indicate to us at the time of booking.
This hike can start at 10 am and arrive at the bivouac at 4:30 pm, or it can end at the bivouac at sunset and start later in the morning, depending on the season and daylight hours.
Prepare yourself as best as possible

Maximum weight allowed 90kg (The organization reserves the right to deny admission to the trek if anyone who fails to declare their actual weight exceeds the limit, and no refunds will be given. The health of the horses comes first.)
- Equestrian Level: To take part in this excursion it is not necessary to have an equestrian level, even beginners are accepted, but in their case we do not guarantee the possibility of trotting and galloping, which will be examined on a case-by-case basis.
- Clothing: To participate in this horseback excursion, please wear long trousers and closed shoes.

BOOKING CONDITIONS:
All activities must be paid in advance in order to be confirmed.
BOOKING CONFIRMATION:
The booking will be confirmed upon receipt of the confirmation email sent by our staff or by the booking system, once the balance has been paid.
PAYMENT METHODS:
- Bank transfer to a Moroccan bank (sending proof of payment by email at least 7 days before the activity is mandatory)
- International credit card (Mastercard, Visa, American Express – via PayPal or Factobox)
ON-SITE PAYMENT:
For on-site bookings, for which availability cannot be guaranteed without advance payment, it is possible to pay in cash (Moroccan dirhams).
CANCELLATION CONDITIONS:
Any interruption of the activity requested by the client for any reason requires dedicated assistance, which involves an additional cost.
This cost will be charged on site, communicated at the time, and depends on the location where the client interrupts the activity.
The client agrees to pay this cost.
Please note: weather conditions or illness are not covered by the organizer but by the client’s own travel insurance.
In the event of cancellation by the client, the following penalties will apply:
- More than 30 days before arrival: 30% of the total booking amount will be retained
- Between 29 and 10 days before arrival: 60% of the total booking amount will be retained
- Between 9 and 3 days before arrival: 75% of the total booking amount will be retained
- Less than 48 hours before arrival: 100% of the total booking amount will be retained
CHILDREN CONDITIONS:
Young children also pay the full price, as they will ride on a horse led by a dedicated instructor. Safety vests and riding helmets will be provided. For safety reasons, it is strictly forbidden for a child to ride on the same horse as an adult. Only the instructor may, if necessary, take a small child on the saddle; however, preferably, the instructor will accompany the child on foot, staying alongside them.
