The one-hour dromedary ride is the ideal option for groups or families with small children.
Recommended for a first encounter with the animal, you can calmly discover the immediate surroundings of the Ranch de Diabat.
Just a few minutes from Essaouira, the one-hour ride starts from the Ranch de Diabat towards the mouth of the Qsob River and the dunes where the ancient Black Sultan's Palace is hidden; your tour continues along the fine sandy beach, facing the sea and the famous island of Mogador, before returning to the Ranch through the mimosa and eucalyptus forest.
The dromedary is a calm animal accessible to everyone and will allow you to enjoy a pleasant time with family or friends.
Program
For those with their own transport, it is easy to reach the Ranch de Diabat, located just 3 km from the city center; a map and GPS coordinates will be sent by email, and you can park safely in the Ranch's private parking lot.
Upon arrival at Reception, you will be welcomed by our staff who will introduce your guide.
This ride is suitable for adults and even small children, who can ride on the same dromedary as their parents at a reduced rate.
Your guide will explain how to mount the dromedaries, already seated and ready to take you on the ride; with the help of the footrest step, you can easily climb onto the comfortable saddle, designed and made by the Ranch de Diabat for maximum comfort during the ride.
Once mounted on the dromedary, you will proceed in a caravan towards the beach, following the banks of the Qassob River.
You will visit the Palace of Sultan Moulay Abdallah, the setting of several films and now part of the UNESCO World Heritage.
Your guide will provide many historical explanations about this monument and also take several photos to remember this beautiful experience.
You will continue towards the dunes and the beautiful beach, where you can experience the thrill of walking in the ocean water atop these majestic animals with long, dynamic legs.
You will admire the Portuguese Castle and see up close the Island of Mogador with its mosque and ancient prison.
Remember that the dromedary is a calm animal, the ride takes place in a caravan, one behind the other, the saddles are comfortable, wearing a protective helmet is not necessary, the route touches on interesting historical and natural points and is designed to admire the landscape and nature, learn about history and some interesting anecdotes, and come into contact with a way of training this gentle animal naturally and ethologically.
Prepare Yourself Well
- Experience Level: no experience is required to take part in this excursion
- Clothing: Recommended clothing for this excursion is casual; shorts and flip-flops are also possible; in case of wind, it is advisable to wear a light jacket to protect against the wind and a scarf, as well as sunglasses.

BOOKING CONDITIONS:
All activities must be paid in advance in order to be confirmed.
PAYMENT METHODS:
- Bank transfer to a Moroccan bank (sending proof of payment by email at least 7 days before the activity is mandatory)
- International credit card (Mastercard, Visa, American Express – via PayPal or Factobox)
ON-SITE PAYMENT:
For on-site bookings, for which availability cannot be guaranteed without advance payment, it is possible to pay in cash (Moroccan dirhams).
CANCELLATION CONDITIONS:
Any interruption of the activity requested by the client for any reason requires dedicated assistance, which involves an additional cost. This cost will be charged on site and communicated at the time, and depends on the location where the client interrupts the activity.
The client agrees to pay this cost.
PLEASE NOTE: weather conditions or illness are not covered by the organizer but by the client’s own travel insurance.
In the event of cancellation by the client, the following penalties will apply:
- More than 30 days before arrival: 30% of the total booking amount will be retained
- Between 29 and 10 days before arrival: 60% of the total booking amount will be retained
- Between 9 and 3 days before arrival: 75% of the total booking amount will be retained
- Less than 48 hours before arrival: 100% of the total booking amount will be retained
CHILDREN CONDITIONS:
0–4 years: free (sharing the camel with parents, maximum one child with one adult)
5–8 years: half price if sharing the camel (maximum one child with one adult); full price if riding alone
From 9 years old: full price whether riding alone or sharing the camel
NB: each camel may carry a maximum of two people, even in the case of a baby, for safety reasons. If in a family of two adults there are three children, the oldest child will ride a camel alone or with the guide, paying the corresponding fee.
