Ranch de Diabat is primarily an equestrian center available to everyone, young and old, beginners or experienced riders, for those who wish to take riding courses and lessons with a team of certified and professional instructors.
Lessons take place partly within the Ranch and in the outdoor area of the facility, and partly by going out on a ride.
Riding lessons are available every day of the week by appointment and depending on the availability of instructors and horses.
Program
The 10-lesson riding package includes 1 hour of riding lesson starting inside the facility.
Beginning with the first approach to the horse where the rider takes care of it and prepares it for the time they will spend together.
Taking care of and grooming the horse entrusted to you is essential to start building a relationship on a sensory level:
· smell: letting the horse sniff you to get acquainted
· touch: touching the horse in areas it enjoys to reassure it and positively prepare it for the time spent together, brushing it and cleaning its hooves, fitting it with saddle pad, saddle, bridle, and bit
· sight: showing calm movements and observing your horse’s movements to understand its mood
· hearing: listening to its neighs and snorts to understand what it wants to communicate
Attention from the rider during this preparatory and approach phase between human and animal is fundamental to lay the foundation for understanding and a positive, lasting relationship that leads to progress for both.
Riding is not only about learning techniques but a true relationship of give and take and emotional exchange between horse and rider, where both must enjoy and feel fulfilled by the time spent together.
After preparing the horse, you will go outside the stable, to the designated area where the instructor will begin explaining the basics of how to mount, the posture to maintain, and how to move to walk, then trot.
Different techniques from the ground or saddle may be used each time to achieve a goal for each lesson.
The instructor will decide whether to take you for a short ride along the banks of the Qsob river to observe how you apply the teachings and, at the same time, to break the routine and vary the lesson, turning it into practical riding after theory.
At the end, returning to the stables, it is important to thank the horse for the time spent together, for what it has taught us, and for its patience.
To do this, we can remove its tack and let it roll on the sand, then spray some fresh water only on the fetlocks to relax the joints, and finally bring it to its stall where it will have free access to the water trough and we can reward it with a couple of carrots or dry bread, which we can bring from home.
For riders who have the time and wish, it will be possible to spend more time at the stables, close to their horse, to strengthen the bond and continue the observation and learning process.
