Horseback trekking tour in the Moroccan desert
Note: The Bivouac is only possible with a reservation and passport submission 2 weeks before the activity, as required by the competent authorities of Essaouira
The experience of equestrian trekking allows you to live three intense days full of emotions, discoveries, and explorations, in a complete immersion in unspoiled nature, accompanied by our faithful Arab-Berber horses.
The 3-day, 2-night horseback tour is designed for those with less time available but who want to enjoy a true immersion in nature and the world of horses, practicing an outdoor activity, sleeping in Berber bivouacs, and tasting excellent Moroccan cuisine.
Unforgettable horseback excursions through wild nature and boundless landscapes
Departure from Ranch de Diabat. You will meet the guide, the horse, and your travel companions. From here you will immerse yourself inland, crossing small natural canyons carved by the Ksob river. Then you will climb a hill, equipped with a wonderful panoramic view of the port of Essaouira, Mogador Island, and the natural oceanic lagoon.
From here you will cross the Argan forests, pristine beaches, cliffs on the Atlantic Ocean, and the vast large dunes of Cap Sim, whose masterful lighthouse will light your way back. This horseback trekking offers breathtaking scenery and unforgettable experiences.
Program
Day 1: Arrival
Meeting at the Ranch at 10 to meet your travel companions and the guide, as well as the horses. Full-day trekking through ups and downs in small canyons and sandy dunes. At lunchtime, you will meet the staff who will serve you lunch for a refreshing break.
In the afternoon, you will cross the Argan forest until you reach the designated place to spend the night, where tents and special areas to care for the horses will already be set up. The work team will welcome you with a nice Moroccan tea and a warm shower to regain your strength. An excellent Moroccan dinner will be served in front of the campfire, which will enliven the evening.
Day 2: Between cliffs and the Atlantic Ocean
After a hearty breakfast and preparing your steed, you set off towards the sea. You will see varied landscapes and different terrains where you can put your equestrian skills into practice and build a good relationship with the horse. A mandatory lunch break, diligently prepared by the staff on site, who will pamper and delight you with a short siesta for both horse and rider, before getting back in the saddle and reaching the cliffs overlooking the beach and the Atlantic Ocean.
Once you arrive at the sea-view bivouac, you can take care of your horses and enjoy a relaxing break with a walk on the beach, a swim in the ocean (taking great care with the currents), and have fun taking many photos at sunset. The evening will be lively around the bonfire; who will play the guitar or bongos and who will dance? Meanwhile, dinner will be served by our cook until it is time to sleep in the Berber tents.
Day 3: Departure
After breakfast and preparing the horses, you will set off towards a surfers' village, then encounter a fishing port and climb towards a huge sandy promontory with a breathtaking view of the Atlantic Ocean.
You will cross a sea of dunes, entering a past era where many films were shot. You will leave behind a huge lighthouse that guides ships to the port of Essaouira, and continue to the long and deserted beach that will be the stage for beautiful gallops. In the background, the Island of Mogador, the Portuguese Castle, a sign of the imminent arrival, a final gallop before passing by the Palace of Sultan Moulay Ben Abdallah, a historic monument included in the UNESCO heritage.
From here you will arrive at Ranch de Diabat to end this beautiful adventure and have lunch together on the Ranch terrace.
