8-day Morocco tour from Agadir to Essaouira
An eight-day adventure, including six days of horseback trekking, unfolding over four days in the mountains and two days along wonderful beaches and cliffs. The route is located between Agadir and Essaouira, covering a total radius of 180 km, to be traveled with your faithful steeds.
You will have the opportunity to see various Amazigh villages along the way, and observe the local population in their traditional rhythms of life, such as fetching water from the well using donkeys and jars, watching a farmer working the land with a plow pulled by a team composed of a dromedary and a mule together, a woman making bread and baking it in a handmade oven made of earth and straw, and sensing the natural aromas. Children walking kilometers together on foot to go to the village school, or worshippers leaving the mosque after praying.
The charm of Morocco through unforgettable horseback rides
During this trip in Morocco, you will have the chance in the evening to gather around the campfire at the bivouac to talk about all the experiences of the day, and our cook will delight you with Moroccan culinary delicacies, all freshly prepared on site. Each day a different menu tailored to your possible food allergies and preferences, which you can specify in the registration form.
These will be magical moments of group sharing and personal reflection, moments of connection with your horse who will listen and sense what you want to communicate. At the end of this wonderful experience, arriving at the Essaouira beach, you will have the opportunity to enjoy some fantastic and intense gallops.

Useful information
Maximum weight
Maximum allowed weight 90kg (the organization reserves the right to refuse participation in the trek to anyone who does not declare their actual weight if it exceeds the limit, and no refund will be provided. The health of the horses is the priority)
Flights
Please book a flight arriving at Marrakech airport by 2:00 PM on the day of arrival so that other participants do not have to wait too long. If your flight arrives after 2:00 PM, a small surcharge will be charged for the extra transport to Essaouira, which will be by bus instead of taxi. If the bus schedule is not compatible, you can use a private taxi for €80 to be shared with those arriving late.
For the return, please book a flight from Marrakech departing after 12 noon; those who need to fly earlier can use a private taxi at €80 to share with others leaving early. Count 6 hours before the flight departure time, including 3 hours for the road from Essaouira to Marrakech and 3 hours to be at the airport on time.
Travel insurance
The travel insurance that we require must include cancellation coverage if the client withdraws before the trip for personal reasons. If the client does not want to arrange this insurance, they will be responsible for cancellation and the consequent non-refund of travel expenses.
We also require medical coverage during the trip, which is mandatory for trekking bookings. The medical insurance must cover any illness or accident during the trip and include horseback riding as a non-competitive activity.
We can recommend what our clients report after many years of trekking; Heymondo offers a single insurance that covers both cancellation and accidents, and horseback riding can be included. Our advice is based on positive feedback from our clients; if you have good experiences with other insurances, please let us know.
Attention: insurance must be arranged simultaneously with the purchase of the horseback trekking.
Ranch de Diabat has its own insurance; however, every client is required to have their own personal insurance.
Equestrian level
To participate in a multi-day horseback trekking with us and our beautiful Arabian Barb horses, we need to select riders:
- being skilled in the three gaits: walk, trot, canter when required
- maximum weight 90kg
- good posture at the trot to avoid injuring the horse's back
- taking care of the horse assigned during the trekking, saddling, unsaddling, cleaning, giving water and food
- valid passport with at least 6 months remaining from the date of entry into Morocco
The experience is immersive and includes all these elements that help create an even more genuine bond with the horse that will carry you around.
Please provide your detailed equestrian experience to help us choose the best adventure companion for you.
Accommodation
Accommodation for the first and last night is in a hotel. In the case of single travelers: if we do not find anyone for a double or triple room (men with men and women with women), we must charge a supplement of €30 for a single room per night per person. The same supplement applies to those who want a single room.
Details
Accommodation during the trek will be in shared tents for 6 people, or if you prefer, in 2-person igloo tents.
Your bivouac is equipped with a shower with warm water.
Meals
Your meals are prepared by our chef who will introduce you to the richness of Moroccan cuisine. The menu takes into account the diets or food allergies of participants, communicated in the registration form. We also gladly welcome guests who need to follow a gluten-free diet. We kindly ask them to bring a package of pasta and the necessary bread during the trek.
Tip
It is customary at the end of the trip to leave a tip for the staff who took care of you during the experience, which can range from 7 to 10% of the trip value.
