6-day horseback trekking discovering Essaouira
The 6-day tour in Morocco, including 4 days on horseback in a circuit starting and ending at Ranch de Diabat, is the short edition of our famous horseback trekking.
You will follow the bends of the Ksob River, whose water nourishes the crops and wild palm trees. You will pass through small natural canyons created by water flow during the rainy seasons.
Horseback rides between the desert and Morocco's coastal cities
The landscape will change and surprise you every single day with its unique features. During this horseback trekking, you will cross a large forest of Argan trees, with the opportunity to visit a women's cooperative that will show you the oil production process, from olive harvesting to the finished product. If you wish, you can purchase their products, knowing you are supporting a genuine rural women's cooperative.
From the largest Argan tree to a route along beautiful cliffs overlooking the Atlantic Ocean in the Essaouira region, where you can descend to small wild private beaches, then climb back up and watch the sunset over the sea from above. In the evening at the bivouac, after the horseback excursion, you will enjoy the delicacies of traditional Moroccan cuisine, freshly prepared by our chef, who will accommodate your wishes and any food allergies previously communicated in the registration form.
Essaouira tour among wonderful beaches and famous monuments
The horseback trekking tour also includes crossing a sea of magnificent dunes, where in the background the beautiful Cap Sim lighthouse guides ships approaching the port of Essaouira. With this unique landscape, you will descend to the beach where you can gallop with the rhythm of the wind, admiring Mogador Island in the background and the beautiful Medina of Essaouira, a UNESCO heritage site.
Before returning to Ranch de Diabat, you will pass by the famous historic monument of the Sultan Moulay Ben Abdallah Palace, also listed as a UNESCO heritage site and the setting of numerous films such as "Game of Thrones," and mythologized by Hippies worldwide for the unlikely visit of Jimi Hendrix in the 1970s.
On the last day of the horseback trekking you will have the opportunity to visit the Medina of Essaouira and go shopping, and take a couple of hours for a hammam and a massage at the end of these days on horseback.
Program

Travel insurance
The travel insurance that we require to be purchased must include cancellation coverage if the client withdraws before the trip for personal reasons. If the client does not want to purchase this insurance, they will be responsible for the cancellation and the consequent non-refund of travel expenses.
We also require medical coverage during the trip, mandatory for trekking bookings. The medical insurance must cover any illness or accident during the trip and include horseback riding as a non-competitive activity.
We can recommend what our clients have reported to us after many years of trekking: Heymondo offers a single insurance that covers both cancellation and accidents, and horseback riding can be included. Our advice is based on positive feedback from our clients; if you have good experiences with other insurances, please let us know.
Attention: insurance must be purchased simultaneously with the horseback trekking.
Ranch de Diabat has its own insurance; nevertheless, every client is required to have their own personal insurance.
Equestrian level
To participate in a multi-day equestrian trekking with us and our beautiful Arabian Barb horses, we need to select riders:
- be skilled in the three gaits: walk, trot, gallop when required
- with a maximum weight of 90kg
- good posture at the trot to avoid injuring the horse's back
- take care of the assigned horse during the trekking, saddle, unsaddle, clean, give water and food
- valid passport with 6 months remaining at the date of entry into Morocco
The experience is immersive and includes all these things that help create an even truer bond with the horse that will carry you around.
Please indicate your equestrian experience in detail to help us choose the best adventure companion.
Accommodation
Accommodation for the first and last night is in a hotel. In the case of single travelers: if we do not find anyone for a double or triple room, we must charge a supplement of €30 for a single room per night per person. The same supplement applies to those who want a single room.
Accommodation during the trekking will be in shared tents for 6 people, or if you prefer, in 2-person igloo tents. Your bivouac is equipped with a shower with warm water.
Meals
Meals are prepared by our chef who will introduce you to the richness of Moroccan cuisine. The menu takes into account the diets or food allergies of participants, communicated in the registration form.

It is customary at the end of the trip to leave a tip for the staff who took care of you during the experience, which can range from 7% to 10% of the trip value.
