5-day horseback trekking in the Moroccan desert
If you're looking for an exceptional adventure in Morocco, this desert tour combines horseback riding and stunning sights, suitable for both solo travelers and groups.
The proposed equestrian trek is divided into 2 stages:
- The journey begins in Tameghourte, a city located southeast of Zagora. This route offers the opportunity to explore the village of Ouled Driss, then continue through the impressive Draa palm grove. Here, you can admire the beauty of the gardens nestled around Morocco's historic castles, true jewels that emerge from the desert like precious gems.
- The second phase of our horseback trek immerses us completely in the majesty of the desert landscapes, alternating between crossing vast spaces dominated at times by dunes (ergs) and at times by rock formations (regs), offering unique glimpses of the Sahara Desert.
Stunning landscapes to visit on this 5-day desert tour of Morocco
This trek in Morocco offers the unique experience of galloping across vast expanses of sand, walking alongside your own Berber Arabian horse, and reaching the summit of Jebel Bani for a breathtaking panoramic view of the plains below. The desert horseback trekking tour also includes crossing the Oued Draa River, vital for the local date palm and watermelon crops, a key element in the life of the small villages dotting the region. Our route will also take us through Touareg villages, remnants of the ancient routes of the legendary Paris-Dakar Rally.
Ranch de Diabat: Morocco trips organized for exploration and adventure
Every day will be filled with new things to do. We'll ride through the spectacular desert landscapes, where the heat of the sun gradually gives way to the cool of the evening, beneath a sky adorned with a shining moon and stars so close they seem almost within reach. These moments, combined with the magic of the desert panoramas, will make your horseback trek an unforgettable memory, enhanced by photographs that will capture the essence of your journey. Our offer also includes all-inclusive Morocco vacation packages, allowing you to explore the wonders of this land with tours of Essaouira or tours of Morocco, ideal for a multi-day stay.
Plan
Day 1 Saturday: Arrival Casablanca
Flight to Casablanca, overnight stay in a hotel near the airport (dinner, overnight stay, and flight not included).

During the desert ride, you'll cross the last mountain range separating you from the Sahara. Following small hairpin bends, you'll reach the summit, where a magnificent panorama awaits. The descent leads to spectacular oases on desert plateaus where only a few acacia trees survive the drought. As you advance south, the first dunes approach, gradually increasing in size. Continuing the ride, you'll encounter vast dune fields with tamarisk trees as you head towards the Draa Valley. Here, you'll find dwellings, palm groves, and ksars (fortified villages). You'll enter the Draa Valley, passing through dunes, plateaus, and gorges, until you reach the heart of the palm groves and oases. Each evening, you'll enjoy the Tuareg way of life as you return to your camp. Dinner and overnight stay in a bivouac.
Day 7 Friday: domestic flight
Royal Air Maroc flight from Zagora in the morning with a stopover in Ouarzazate and arrival in Casablanca, flight and overnight stay not included, in the airport area.

Different riding levels will be managed by multiple guides to ensure enjoyment for every rider, whether beginner or expert.
